Royal Mail Fulfilment: Changes in Delivery Support

As a response to COVID-19, Royal Mail has announced that it will be suspending its services to 43 countries, creating more uncertainty for marketplace sellers that ship worldwide. The latest news from the company reveals that the suspension will be placed until further notice, primarily due to lack of air transport available as more countries restrict movement.

Royal Mail has stated that the number of available postal and courier partners is changing daily, with most major export routes remaining open and processing deliveries as usual. Markets such as the US will remain operational.

There are also significant delays in some countries due to the lack of transport links and suspended postal operations within each region. The list of countries which are affected can be viewed on the Royal Mail website.

Combined with ongoing issues with Amazon FBA, the impact of COVID-19 on supply chains is a growing concern for marketplaces. What this means for sellers is that alternatives are required to keep business open as usual. Shipping rates and delivery times will have to be adjusted, as well as outsourcing fulfilment to ensure orders remain uninterrupted.
